"If you want to build something that lasts, you have to learn how to change what you build." -Reggie Joiner
Thinking about the way we do (or don't) affect our youth is challenging. It acknowledges the old saying "If you do what you've always done, then you'll get what you've always got." But getting what we've always got is many times not good enough.
Our 7th-12th graders are at a crossroads; they are at a point in life where they are deciding who they are and what they will live their life by. This is why we must make every effort to point them to the cross. And sometimes, that means we must adjust the way we do things. We do them (and ultimately, God) a disservice if we do not admit that we might need to update things once in a while in order to share Him with a new generation.
The goal of our youth ministry is to provide our pre-teens and teenagers with experiences and opportunities where we ignite that spark for them to become passionately on fire for God and their love for others. In order to do this, we cannot be content with the status quo. No more business as usual.
Change is coming... are you ready for it?
